49 International Session of the Model European Parliament organized by the San Patricio Foundation
Spain has hosted the 49th International Session of the Model European Parliament organized by the San Patricio Foundation, which took place in Toledo and Madrid, the week of November 10 to 17, 2018
The Model Program of the European Parliament of the San Patricio Foundation, directly familiarizes young people with the functioning of the European Union. It is aimed at students of 1st year of high school and 1st year of intermediate vocational courses, aged 16 and 17, all over Spain, the initiative has been developing since 2000 and has the participation of more than 600 public and private centers as concerted.
On this occasion, more than 200 young people from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania , Russia, Slovak Republic and Slovenia are the real protagonists of a week in which the city of Toledo and the Congress of Deputies in Madrid have been witnessing proposals and initiatives to various current European problems, with a vision charged with freshness and very novel.
International School San Patricio Toledo and the University of Castilla la Mancha have been the official venues in which the young participants worked in Commissions throughout the week that began with the Opening Ceremony on Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Church Paraninfo of San Pedro Mártir- Madre de Dios - University of Castilla la Mancha and concluded on November 15 and 16 at the General Assembly in the Ernest Lluch Hall of the Congress of Deputies of Madrid.
The General Assembly dealt with topics of tremendous European relevance, such as:
"Take action against fiscal injustice", "how to legislate the consequences of the expansion of digital technologies", "sustainable enterprises through EU aid policies", "how can the EU fully utilize the technology available for achieve a high participation rate of young voters and ensure that the electorate is well informed? "," What additional steps can the EU take to achieve gender equality in the workplace? "" The issue of military integration of Europe "," Innovation in European education "," how can the EU guarantee the adoption of innovative pedagogical methods and pedagogical approaches?"
Also on this occasion we have had the presence of Don. Jaume Duch, Director General of Communication of the European Parliament, who has presented the campaign of the next European Elections of 2019 and has debated with the young participants.
